What you'll do

  • Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns raised by volunteers or members
  • Make decisions about referral to statutory agencies, in line with the Safeguarding Policy
  • Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records in line with policy
  • Ensure all volunteers complete required safeguarding training before taking up their roles
  • Review the Safeguarding Policy at least annually

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience of safeguarding children and/or vulnerable adults in a professional or substantial voluntary capacity
  • Completed (or willing to complete) Designated Safeguarding Lead-level training
  • Sound, calm judgement and the ability to handle sensitive disclosures appropriately
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Acts and Care Act 2014

Desirable criteria

  • Existing DSL/DSO experience in an education, health, or youth work setting
  • Experience liaising with statutory safeguarding agencies
Direct contact role. This role may involve direct contact with young people in 16+ settings. In addition to safeguarding training, it requires an enhanced DBS check before you can begin, as set out in our Safeguarding Policy.
