Data Protection Officer
Oversees SRHE's compliance with UK GDPR and data protection law as the organisation handles member and volunteer data.
What you'll do
- Advise on SRHE's data protection obligations as membership and volunteering grow
- Maintain and review the Privacy Policy and related data protection documentation
- Act as the point of contact for data subject access requests
- Support breach assessment and, where required, notification to the ICO
- Advise on data protection aspects of any new SRHE systems or processes
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Comfortable advising a small, early-stage organisation on practical, proportionate data protection measures
- Strong attention to detail and clear written communication
Desirable criteria
- A formal data protection qualification (e.g. BCS Certificate in Data Protection, IAPP)
- Experience acting as a DPO or supporting data protection compliance for a charity or small organisation
No direct contact with young people. This role does not involve direct contact with children or vulnerable adults, so an enhanced DBS check is not required. Safeguarding training is still mandatory for every SRHE volunteer.
